One of the best things about listening to music in 2021 is that artists are really putting so much effort in making the best songs they possibly can. There are no shows in sight for many people, and there is really only one thing to focus on: making high-quality content! What’s special about Hamlin Dead is that he really managed to stay true to his sound, and create something that’s so fun and engaging with Illusion (feat. Mary Tzo). This track is a playful and unique production, which combines influences as diverse as Dub, Dancehall, and Electronic Dance Music with a unique touch. I would definitely recommend listening to this release if you do like lush, modern electronic productions with a unique feel. At times, this song reminds me of music with a cool Latin twist, but at others, it has a clarity that makes me think of the sound of modern performers such as Avicii, Calvin Harris, or Illenium, only to mention but a few. Overall, the track is extremely balanced, and it offers a fantastic dynamic range, leading to a nice balance of arrangements and textures. The vocals provided by Mary Tzo are amazing as well, perfectly fitting with the overall mood of the song, and giving justice to the wonderful lyrics, written by Elli Sak.

This release is a breath of fresh air in the music community, and it might remind fans of the work of seminal artists such as Scientist, Dua Lipa, and Rihanna, only to mention a few. Comparisons aside, Hamlin Dead has a one-of-a-kind sound, and his music is deeply personal and charismatic. He’s not really trying to emulate any given artist, but rather really setting the bar higher with so much passion and talent, aiming to create amazing music that is so easy to relate to for people of all walks of life.
